Reset a JBL Flip 5

1. Turn on the JBL Flip 5

Press and hold the Power button until it lights up.

Find the Power button, as shown in the last picture above.

Then, the Power button lights up along with the battery power scale, as shown next. The speaker does not enter Bluetooth pairing mode in this instance because we have already paired it with Bluetooth devices. We know that because the Power button glows solid gray, rather than blinking blue.

2. Wait for the Power Up Sound

A rising rock guitar strum sound is produced when the JBL Flip 5 is turned on. After this sound has finished, the Flip is ready for use.

3. Press the Volume UP and Play-Pause Buttons Together to Start the Factory Reset

See the next picture to find the Play-Pause and UP Volume buttons.

The Flip 5 JBL then enters factory reset, as seen in the picture below. Note that both the Bluetooth and Power buttons light up gray-white for a couple of seconds. Next is shown, followed by a brief pause before the speaker turns off. The power-down guitar sound plays as all the lights go out.

4. Check that the Factory Reset of the JBL Flip 5 Worked

As mentioned in step 1 above, restart the device afterward.

Following a reset, the speaker now appears in Bluetooth discovery mode, as displayed in the image below. Note that the Bluetooth button blinks white to denote this. When the Bluetooth button blinks, this means that the unit is not currently paired. In fact, we anticipate that after a factory reset, it won’t pair with anything.

5. How to Factory Reset the JBL Flip 5 is now complete!

We’ve completed the factory reset. The speaker can now be packaged up for sale or paired with your preferred Bluetooth devices once more. Any previously paired Bluetooth device within range of the device will no longer automatically connect to it. Manually pair the Flip 5 with a phone or tablet to restart automatic Bluetooth pairing. When Bluetooth is enabled on both the speaker and the connected device, pairing will then happen automatically once more.
